Well we’ve never quite been ones for the whole music festival scene as we’ve always pictured overcrowded campsites, badly kept ablution facilities with waste leaks and smells emanating through the air and thousands of unruly, drunk youngsters where no one could ever take their kids to BUT we were lured by great rumors from the past events held and were absolutely astounded by the White Mountain Music Festival!!!
The festival is set up in the beautiful foothills of Giant’s Castle in the central Drakensberg at the White Mountain Resort. It is an annual festival where one can happily take your whole family or group of friends and enjoy not only the music line up but a variety of activities at the resort such as stand up paddle boarding, fishing, kiddies treasure hunts, trail running, yoga etc. It really was such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where everyone young and old was welcome!
It was a fantastically managed event hosted by c-weed with ample place to camp, security guards, spotlessly clean and well kept ablutions with hot running water, a fabulous variety of food stalls to suit your heart’s delight, stalls set up with the easy cash-free paying system ZAPPA, Zulu dancers and an incredible line up of artists from all over the country! They ranged from Bad Peter (MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!), to the new and upcoming Bianca Santoro, to Durban based singer-songwriter Chico Muya, the rocking Celtic and traditional folk band from Cape Town, Jenny & The Jameses, Kaiti Faul and the winner of M-Net’s The Voice SA, Richard Stirton to name but a few. All the performances were held in a big marquee tent so that no matter the weather, the show went on! The ticket price was well worth every single penny and Best Adventure Blog gives this event a HUGE thumbs up!!!
